Most grant applications will come with a requirement to make lower cost improvements to the building prior to having the renewable technology installed. These include loft insulation, improved heating controls and cavity wall insulation (where appropriate).
ROC Payments
Whilst generating electrical or heat energy you can also be generating a cash income! For every unit (1000 Watts for 1 hour) you produce you can receive a payment of up to 15 pence.
Feed-In Tariff
When the current grant scheme ends in 2011 another scheme is proposed to replace it. Very similar to the ROC payments you will be able to claim cash from the energy you are producing. The value of the Feed-In Tariff are shown here: Click here for more information.
Good Energy
Your energy provider and which technology you have installed will determine the amount of cash you are entitled to. We recommend an electricity provider called ‘Good Energy’. Click here for more information.
Planning
Planning permission for renewable installations is now much easier to attain. Government guidelines have ensured planning departments must have a very good reason not to give permission for renewable installations, unless you are in a listed building then you should get approval, even with listed buildings there may be a way to become more green!
